Additives, foods containing

Patients on the Marshall ProtocolA curative medical treatment for chronic inflammatory disease. Based on the Marshall Pathogenesis. are advised to consume whole foods instead of foods that contain additives. Some additives are more harmful than others. These include:

  • monosodium glutamate (MSG) - used where salt would be used; consumption is associated with increased obesity1); also labeled as “E621”
  • tartrazine-FD&C Yellow 5 - food coloring causing behavioral changes2); also labeled as “E102”

Although not traditionally thought of as an additive, foods containing supplemented folic acid should also be avoided.
