Home 25-D test kits
An economical method to obtain periodic testing of your 25-DThe vitamin D metabolite widely (and erroneously) considered best indicator of vitamin D "deficiency." Inactivates the Vitamin D Nuclear Receptor. Produced by hydroxylation of vitamin D3 in the liver. levels is to use a home test kit. Results seem to be fairly reliable when shipping times to the lab are normal.

Results when samples shipped from overseas
Many local draws are shipped some distance to the analyzing lab. Some patients have shipped samples overseas. One patient reported that a result from a sample shipped overseas was a lower value than the result from the same draw given to a local lab. This may be related to the length of time in shipment or environmental conditions during shipment.
