Whey protein

Whey protein is the collection of globular proteins that can be isolated from whey, a by-product of cheese manufactured from cow's milk. Some people have touted whey as “supporting immune function.” Whey protein often contains unlabeled vitamin D.

Whey protein is contraindicated for everyone except those who have difficulty eating enough protein. Don't take more than the amount that would equal the recommended amount of daily protein for your body size and gender.

Protein drinks made with whey and no added vitamin D are okay.
