Propolis

Propolis is currently marketed as a helpful antimicrobial agent. Its mode of action is likely to be contraindicated for persons on the MP.

Rather than using this in chewing gum for it's antimicrobial action, using a mouthwash is generally considered to be a better alternative.

Concerns about propolis

Numerous case reports have demonstrated propolis to be a potent allergen and sensitizing agent. Therefore, it should be used cautiously in allergic people.
